The NLN NursingEDge Unscripted podcast has hit an exciting new milestone, with the 100th episode now available online and on the Apple, Google, and Spotify podcast platforms. This series of ongoing conversations with experts in nursing education is now in its third season. The landmark episode, “The Depth and Breadth of Mentorship: Exploring Formal and Informal Connection,” is the seventh posted this season and will appear on Unscripted Conversations Surface, one of three tracks that cover the podcast’s full content. New! Advancing Care Excellence ACE+ Teaching Strategies Now Available
Help nursing students become more proficient in understanding the special needs of LGBTQ+ people with new ACE+ Teaching Strategies:
- Exploring and Understanding LGBTQIA+ Bias in Health Care: Informs students about the impact of LBGTQIA+ bias. Students are asked to create a plan to decrease the impact of bias in health care.
- Methods of Gender Transition: Discusses reasons people may or may not choose to transition and describes the ways transgender people may transition. It also discusses ways to support transgender people.
ACE resources are developed for use with pre-licensure nursing students and can be modified for use with other nursing students. Access Now
Achieve Recognition for the Excellence & Advancement of Certifications
Now open! The Peg E. Daw Certification Star Award: Honoring the Pursuit of Excellence & Advancement of Nurse Educator Certification is an annual recognition of individuals, programs, or organizations that clearly recognize and exemplify the pursuit of excellence and the advancement of certifications. The award recognizes those that have made a significant difference or substantial impact on nursing education, embraced nurse education through adoption and/or promotion of certification, and helped to sustain certifications and excellence in education.
Beginning in 2023, two Star Awards will be granted--one to an organization and one to an individual. Both awards will honor those that have exemplified the pursuit of excellence and advancement of certifications. Applications due June 30. Learn More

Virtual Reality Builds on Over a Century of Nursing Simulation Innovations
In the mid-to-late 1800s, when nurses at the London Hospital Nurse Training Program began using bone models in a dressing class, little did they know that they were on the cusp of an evolving era of simulation innovations for nursing education, which eventually led to the advances we see today in virtual reality (VR). Developed through a long-term partnership between Wolters Kluwer, Laerdal Medical, and the NLN, vrClinicals for Nursing, currently in beta format, uses immersive VR technology to continuously challenge nursing students.
